Enlightened Vision Association (EVA) is a non-for-profit association created on 29 March 2011 in Geneva, Switzerland.
EVA engages a comprehensive approach to support marginalized groups and build the individual and community capacities to better manage their socio-economic integration in the society they belong to. Through various projects, EVA aims to address the social and economic concerns of marginalized groups such as refugees, minorities, and indigenous populations. EVA aims to coherently address the root causes of instability in communities and focus on the causal factors of weak infrastructure related to educational opportunities, poverty and dire socio-economic conditions. The goals of the Association are underlined by a collective responsibility to protect marginalized groups from threats to economic capabilities, to support communities’ ability to live and flourish in a safe environment, and to enable women’s and men’s political and social empowerment.
The objectives of EVA are the following:
- Promote community participation to develop an effective two-way (government-society) interaction that would inform the marginalized groups about issues relevant to them, as well as inform the broader society about their needs and their specific problems, prompt public debate and activate public participation;
- Strengthen the local authorities’ capacity to provide legal assistance and social welfare services to marginalized groups;
- Facilitate the access to justice as a means to strengthen the confidence building of marginalized groups;
- Provide support to minorities, indigenous people, refugees and marginalized groups through educational and cultural activities to ensure the preservation of cultural traditions, particularly in remote and marginalized areas;
- Provide culturally specific education and training programs with a focus on gender, reconciliation and confidence building;
- Support projects that aim to identify, and help protect historically and culturally significant artistic skills by promoting the development of traditional art.
